This image represents Binary Opposition to me. It shows an image of a woman (in our culture a sign of frailty, gentleness, and tenderness ) On the contrary she is shown as being tough, rugged and firm (A stern look on her face, Flexing her muscles, and wearing clothing that looks to be a work uniform). This opposes the general idea of how women are perceived in today's society.
Definitely reveals to single viewpoint most people have of women in America contrasted by her tough look. This picture is also good because it expresses the women's insistance against most male beliefs that women can't be mechanics, from the look, or other dirtier jobs when they can just as well as men.
ReplyDeleteThis picture is great example of Binary Opposition. Basically shows what men can do women can do as well or even better. It has a very good expression and meaning for women as being hardworking. It just has a very strong meaning to it.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to this picture as that I am a construction worker and a firefighter which was always known as a man's job. And I do have problems yet in this day of age of a women being out there doing the work but at the same time some men applaud me for keeping up with the guys and showing them that women can do it to.
